History of Melton’s Cross-Border Shipping

1954: Melton is Founded
Melton was founded by Burt and Gladys Melton in 1954 with just two trucks. They began hauling lumber and roofing materials throughout Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. They later established a terminal in Laredo, Texas, and began plans to operate internationally.

1980: Melton Begins Cross-Border Service
Melton had over 600 trucks by 1980 and was officially approved to begin through-trailer service in Mexico.

1989: GlasTran is Founded

1991: GlasTran and Melton Merge

1995: Monterrey, MX Office Opened
Melton de Mexico was formed in 1994 to enable Melton to work closer with Mexican shippers and facilitate more cross-border business. A few months later, the first Melton de Mexico business office was built in Monterrey, MX.

2001: Melton Opens First El Paso Terminal
To better accommodate Melton’s cross-border shipping services and get greater access to the border between the United States and Mexico, Melton acquired their first El Paso terminal in 2001. The facility would later be expanded in 2014.

2009: Melton Is CTPAT Certified
Melton Truck Lines became a CTPAT-certified carrier in 2009, meaning the company meets specific security standards set by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. This allows for reduced customs inspections, enhanced security, and faster delivery for Melton customers.

2019: Melton Logistics Opens in Querétaro, mx
Melton Logistics, then known as Conexus, opened a branch in Querétaro, Mexico. This strategic location allowed more flexibility in facilitating cross-border logistics and closer proximity to freight going in and out of Mexico.
