Melton Truck Lines is the proud employer of the Truckload Carriers Association’s (TCA) Trucking’s Top Rookie Award Winner and a Top 3 Transition Trucking: Driving for Excellence Award Finalist, Daniel Shonebarger.
On August 25th and 26th 2017, Daniel, along with the nine other finalists, were recognized at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas for each award. Having won Trucking’s Top Rookie Award, Daniel received $10,000 and a package of prizes presented by Truckers News. He was also honored as a Top 3 Finalist in the Transition Trucking: Driving for Excellence Award. As a finalist, Daniel will have the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. later this year and attend the final ceremony.
According to the Truckload Carriers Association, which manages the Trucking’s Top Rookie Award program, the award was established for the purpose of specifically recognizing professional truck drivers who have been in the industry for one year or less. Appreciating talented drivers for their hard work and dedication to their profession along with reinforcing their decision to join the industry is the ultimate goal for the award.
The Transition Trucking: Driving for Excellence Award, sponsored by FASTPORT, was created to honoring military veterans who have successfully entered the trucking industry within the past year. The award is focused specifically on trucking career entrants because of the similar characteristics possessed by both successful military members and trucking professionals.
“We are so proud to have Daniel on our fleet. Those that have worked alongside him have nothing but positive experiences to share. Daniel is the definition of what a Melton driver should be with his outstanding professionalism, desire to learn, team-oriented personality, and overall excellent work ethic.” said Angie Buchanan, Vice President of Safety & Human Resources.
