Meet our Recruiting Team

Samantha Oxford

Recruiter

Samantha has been with Melton since June of 2015. She has learned a lot in the years that she has been with Melton. The trucking industry is always moving and growing, so Samantha feels like there is always more to learn and grow into.

Samantha loves the culture at Melton. The people you get to work with every day are more like family than just coworkers. She also loves getting to help new drivers change their life for the better. She gets to see them through their career change and watch them as they flourish in their job.

When Samantha is not at work, she loves to host paint parties. She loves crafting and getting to teach others her love for crafts makes her very happy. She also loves to spend time with her grandkids.

John Horn

Lead Recruiter

John Horn has been with Melton since 2021. John loves getting to help people succeed and he feels that, in his role at Melton, he gets to do just that. John gets to see firsthand how Melton loves their drivers and all their employees. Melton is always providing great training as he continues in his career. John feels that he has mostly grown in his communication skills. He believes in living in the moment, which is what makes him great at his job. He is able to have great conversations with potential drivers while still telling them about Melton. When John is not at work, he loves spending time with his daughter. They love going to church, the aquarium and bowling so she can beat her dad.

CHERYL KIKER

Recruiter

Cheryl has been a Recruiter with Melton since July of 2016. In that time, she has had the chance to speak with a lot of drivers. Before even coming to Melton, she was in the recruiting world. Cheryl has helped many drivers find a career that they love, and helped many drivers get back on their feet in a driving career.

Cheryl has grown in her many years of recruiting, but the biggest has been all of the different systems that she has learned over the years. Learning new technology and recruiting systems can be a challenge, but she has loved it and it has pushed her to grow.

When Cheryl is not working, she loves to attend her grandchildren’s sporting events. They keep her busy most days, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.

KC Courtney

Recruiter

KC started with Melton in August of 2021 as a Lead Recruiter. She was later promoted to a Recruiter. Her favorite part about working for Melton would have to be the people and the family-like culture. She also loves that she gets to speak to so many different people while they are looking for their dream careers. KC love helping them find a home at Melton and hopes they will retire here one day.

KC believes that Melton is always eager to train, believe in, and push their employees to be the best they can. She believes that is why she has moved positions so quickly. Her coworkers are not just here for her professionally, they care about her personally too. They want what is best for her and are always willing to encourage her.

When KC is not at work, she loves spending time with her dog. She is a mini Aussie named Mookie. They create Tik Toks and enjoy going out to eat!

Karie DuBois

Recruiter

Karie started with Melton in July of 2004. She has loved the time she has spent here and has a long list of what her favorite things would be. Karie loves the drivers, the people she works with daily, the management, and the beautiful facilities. She loves talking to drivers and working with our new recruits to make sure they will fit in with the drivers we have and will be successful here.

Karie’s journey with Melton started with recruiting and driver services and she has come full circle back to recruiting.  She has grown as a recruiter in that she is now super comfortable talking about this company and the job she is recruiting for, whereas when she first started, she was a little nervous and even scared to make a phone call.  Karie kind of secretly hoped they wouldn’t answer the phone and she could just leave a message, but now the opposite is true.  She is excited when they answer and gets to share with them all things Melton.  Karie can gush about Melton all day long and she is happy to take your call.

When Karie is not working, she likes to doodle and draw flowers on just about everything. She also likes to swim, paint, read and do home projects. She is painting her garage door to make it look like stained-glass.

Nicole Jones

Recruiting Coordinator

Nicole started with Melton in September of 2018. She has worn a lot of different hats in those years but her favorite part of the job is that there is something new every day and you are never stuck in one spot if you have the passion to move.

Nicole has grown in many ways in her time with Melton. One of those way was that she used to think she had a one-track career path. She has had the chance to branch out and adopt a wide range of skills she didn’t think was possible in her first few weeks with Melton.

When Nicole is not at work, you can probably find her learning new languages for fun. She is currently working on Japanese and Korean. Nicole also loves to go hiking, running, loves to read and crochet.

Cynthia Johnston

Recruiter

Cynitha started at Melton in October of 2020. Her favorite part about Melton is the people she gets to work with every day. Cythina says the culture is like nowhere else that she has worked. She loves to get to be part of something bigger than herself and make a lasting impact on their lives.

She loves working here because Melton always listens to feedback from their employees. Cynthia knows that we are one big family. She loves that type of culture.

Cynthia knows that she has grown in her listening skills and her ability to understand what her drivers want and need. She has learned how she can help those drivers in their next steps to make their dreams a reality.

One fun fact about Cynthia is that she loves animals but has a very large fear of turtles. She can’t even look at them on a screen without being freaked out.

When she is not at work, she loves to spend time with her family by going to the park, the zoo and mainly doing anything outdoors! Anything active to get her son active and worn out.

Kelly Burton

Sr. Lead Recruiter

Kelly started her career with Melton in the summer of 2014. Kelly has loved every second of her time with Melton. She loves all the traditions Melton uphold and how we are all in this together. Melton truly cares about their employees and what is best for all. She loves that every day she gets the opportunity to help someone make a better life for themselves and their family.  I have discovered truck drivers are the most selfless people she has ever met. When they are asking about a job, their concern is providing for their family and not their own desires, they will go without to be sure their family is provided for. Kelly wonders how anyone could not love this job?

When Kelly first started, she knew nothing about the trucking industry. Melton has given her the tools to love and understand this every changing industry, she learns something new every day!

Something you might not know about Kelly is that she was a cheer coach for 8 years. Her squad came home with 3 National Championships and 1 Grand National Championship, this is where she found her competitive side.

When she is not as work Kelly loves spending time with her Grandson, twin Granddaughters and family, they are her world! Kelly loves football and is a HUGE OU Sooner fan, fall Saturdays are the best, watching her Grandson play football and then rooting for the Boomer Sooners!

David Harper

Military Program Specialist

David started with Melton in June of 2021. One of his favorite aspects of Melton is the culture. He enjoys working with people who are positive, caring, and committed to our company values. It makes it easy for him to stay motivated on accomplishing the mission. He loves providing mentorship and support to veterans who are transitioning out of the military. He believes that helping them connect with a company that values them and cares about their success is very rewarding.

One of the ways that David has grown since beginning his career at Melton, is regaining a “team” mindset. It can be challenging to find a real team environment after serving in the military. He said it was easy to regain that “one team, one fight” mentality when working with others who share his passion.

When David is not working, he loves spending time with his kids, and has enjoyed accompanying them during the various sports they’ve played over the last 20 years. On the subject of sports, he also loves watching college football. He’s a huge Oklahoma Sooner fan but is (embaressingly) attending Oklahoma State University.
