Every September trucking companies across the nation celebrate National Driver Appreciation Week. A week dedicated to celebrating the hardworking men and women in the trucking industry. This year, Driver Appreciation Week fell on September 11th-17th. While trucking companies should appreciate drivers all year long, it is important to take this week to make drivers feel special and communicate how much they are appreciated. Construction sites, grocery stores, auto dealers, etc. all of these would cease to function without truck drivers hauling loads across the continent. So while it may seem like just another truck on the highway, that truck affects our way of life.
Truck driving is a career that is in high demand. And with driver turnover being high, it is very important for companies to show how much they care. Ways that trucking companies can show they appreciate drivers includes: competitive pay, benefits, honoring home time requests, communicating with them on a regular basis while they are on the road and keeping them busy with miles.
Keep in mind that you do not have to be a large company to show your appreciation. The simplest things like saying “thank you” to any truckers you see can make a world of a difference. Truckers keep our economy and country going, and that’s something we all can appreciate!
From all of us here at Melton, thank you truck drivers!! We appreciate you!
